Industry-Academia-Research-Application Integration for Complementary Advantages Iron Technology Signs Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Tianjin Institute of Medical and Health, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences

The 5th China Annual Conference of Hematology (CASH), hosted by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College and organized by the Blood Diseases Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Tianjin Institute of Medicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the National Key Laboratory of Blood and Health, the National Clinical Research Center for Blood Diseases, the Haihe Laboratory of Cell Ecosystem, the Editorial Office of the Chinese Journal of Hematology, and several other organizations, was successfully held in Tianjin from January 3 to 5, 2025.

Suzhou Iron Technology Co., Ltd., Medical Valley (Chuzhou) Aviation Medical Research Institute, Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., Ltd., Jiangsu Hengrui Medicine Co., Ltd., and four other companies, totaling eight firms, were invited to attend the strategic cooperation joint signing ceremony. Ms. Qiu Rui, Director and Executive Deputy General Manager of Iron Technology, participated in the signing ceremony of the Innovation and Transformation Forum on behalf of the company and signed the agreement.

In October 2023, the General Office of the State Council issued the Notice on the Special Action Plan for Patent Transformation and Application (2023–2025), stressing the need to vigorously promote patent industrialization and accelerate the realization of patent value. It called for strengthening incentives for patent transformation by universities and research institutions, promoting the policy orientation toward patent industrialization, and enhancing intellectual property protection to facilitate transformation and application. It also urged the advancement of diversified financial support for intellectual property, the improvement of the service chain for patent transformation and application, and the smooth international circulation of intellectual property elements.

To better respond to the national development strategy, the Tianjin Institute of Medicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Suzhou Iron Technology Co., Ltd., adhering to the principle of "complementary advantages, resource sharing, joint development, and win-win cooperation," will deepen industry-university-research-application collaboration and carry out all-round, multi-sector, and in-depth strategic cooperation in areas such as innovative R&D, achievement transformation, talent cultivation, and clinical research.

At 14:30 on January 3, the joint signing ceremony was solemnly held at the Innovation and Transformation Forum. Ms. Qiu Rui, Director and Executive Deputy General Manager of Iron Technology, attended the signing on behalf of the company.

The cooperation covers the following areas: Digital Technology

I. Academic Exchange and Cooperation

The two parties agree to increase mutual learning and exchanges between their respective management personnel and professional technical talents, and to establish national and regional training centers in areas such as automation and intelligent scenarios, thereby facilitating the introduction and development of new technologies and new businesses.

II. Deepening Industry-University-Research Cooperation

1.With regard to the research and development and clinical validation of new products, the two parties will open green channels for new products and solutions and provide a cooperation platform. The two parties will jointly establish the "Tianjin Institute of Medicine and Health – Iron Technology Innovation Demonstration Base."

2.The two parties will carry out joint scientific and technological research in relevant fields, and provide each other with support and collaboration in areas such as the initiation of scientific research projects related to their respective products and technologies, the publication of academic papers, and the application for scientific research achievements and invention patents.

3.The two parties will engage in in-depth cooperation in the display, innovation, research, and application of hospital-wide intelligent scenarios.

III. International Exchange and Cooperation

The two parties will share international resources and jointly promote international projects in automation and intelligent scenarios, as well as intelligent management of medical supplies. Closely aligning with national strategies, they will jointly advance the international development of both parties in countries along the Belt and Road Initiative and in member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Tianjin Institute of Medicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (hereinafter referred to as the "Institute of Medicine and Health") is a bureau-level public welfare institution of the second category directly under the Tianjin Municipal Government, administered by the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau as authorized by the Municipal Government. In December 2021, Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, approved the establishment of the Tianjin Institute of Medicine and Health of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, which is managed in an integrated manner with the Tianjin Institute of Medicine and Health. The Institute of Medicine and Health coordinates and integrates key resources, including the Institute of Hematology, the Institute of Radiation Medicine, the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, the Medical Center of Peking Union Medical College, the Tianjin Campus of Peking Union Medical College, and the Haihe Laboratory of Cell Ecosystem.

President Xia Yanzhi vividly recounted the journey of how her team, by pooling resources from universities, clinical settings, and enterprises, progressively transformed scientific research achievements from samples to products and then to commercial goods. She elaborated on three aspects: the historical background and opportunities for the transformation of scientific research achievements, the pathway of integrating industry, academia, and research to realize achievement translation, and the efficient translation of achievements through case sharing. Her excellent presentation and the goal of signing agreements with one hundred hospitals under the Medical Valley Institute's plan resonated strongly with the attending audience.

Industry, academia, research and application complement each other's strengths. Through this collaboration with the Institute of Medicine and Health, Iron Technology will fully leverage its comprehensive capabilities in research, development, and manufacturing, helping healthcare professionals turn more sparks of inspiration and innovation into tangible, high-quality products.
